'Jump in'... bravery and daring in our 6th year
Our 'higher purpose'... Responding to the challenge of improving young people's mental health.
We are confident, we are no longer vulnerable, now is the time to go for it. So come on our KS4 students, don't be satisfied with level 4... jump off! Come on post 16 students... Don't be satisfied with a 'C grade' pass... jump off! Throw yourself in; more homework, more reading, more independent study, fully immerse yourselves, be brave, put your face in fully. And you shall swim and your progress will be fast and deep.
Here's to the year of bravery, challenge and commitment.
"What's the Point of School?" ...responding to The Daily Mirror
As a part of the RSA network (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce), I took interest in their recent articles (here and here) regarding the government's recent green paper on 'Transforming children and young people's mental health provision'.
Happy New Year 2018
Entirely professional - No exaggeration! Our students stood with their artwork and presented their concepts and explained their processes with confidence and insight.
Welcome to Elstree UTC starters 2017
Little details are so important to making something real. Tiny details which may not even be seen or noticed at first are actually crucial to creating truth and building a world that you can believe in.
Happy New Year!
Elstree UTC is ever so excited to begin a new learning journey with our new starters in years 10 and 12. Enrolment has gone well and we have been oversubscribed!
Naming the EUTC Studios - Celebrating industry icons
I do hope that the winter break was restorative and joyous. Welcome to 2017 at EUTC.
The EUTC Studio System
Students have been voting for which successful media industry practitioner they want to name as their studio icon. The short list was extensive including Great British Makeup artists, Cinematographers, Graphic designers, Game designers and Filmmakers.
Hope and Wonder
The 'golden era' of the Hollywood Studio System has long passed but next week marks the launch of our own EUTC Studio System. It's aim is to bring a strength and clarity to the way we support our learners. In other schools and colleges, they may talk about 'houses' but we are Elstree UTC so we're going for studios.
I have always found Wonder and Inspiration to be best expressed by space; by the galaxies and cosmos, the swirling mists of energy and matter whose secrets lie behind life and beauty.
BYOD means that, while we will continue to provide the high level industry and specialist technology which is often very expensive, we will also use high quality WiFi to make cloud based software available for students and staff with their own devices.
