What's happening at EUTC?

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the final term of the academic year 16/17. EUTC is rounding up it's 4th year with a host of exciting events including a Cabaret evening, an exhibition and student performances calendared throughout June and July. There are still plenty of exams to go: please take a look at the exam timetable posted earlier in our blog at: https://www.elstreeutc.co.uk/blogs/updates/2017/5/12/eutc-exam-timetable

A note on the recent attacks on Britain

We would like to mention that our thoughts are with those affected by the recent attacks on Britain, in Manchester and London. We are deeply saddened by the events that have taken place within the last few months and send our love and support to the families and communities involved.  #WeStandTogether

Elstree University Technical College has zero tolerance of hate crimes, raises awareness in our community about the risks of radicalisation and positively promotes British values amongst our student body. If you would like further information pertaining to recognising hate crime please visit: http://report-it.org.uk/home

If you need to report an emergency please dial 999 immediately. Otherwise please report any concerns at: https://beta.met.police.uk/true-vision-report-hate-crime/ or speak to a member of EUTC staff for further information.

General Election 2017 and the upcoming Year 10 Parent/Carer's Evening

With the British General Election taking place this coming Thursday (8th July 2017), we would like to remind all students over the age of 18 that they have the right to vote. We encourage everyone with the right to vote to head to their local polling booths this Thursday.

In addition, we understand that the Year 10 Parent/Carer's Evening is taking place on the same night and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We ask that you bear this in mind when booking appointments with tutors so that you have time to vote.

We apologise for not moving the evening, but due to scheduling conflicts we would not be able to host it any other time.

Success with the Elstree Film Festival's first edit session!

Last Friday EUTC hosted 12 Yr 5 students from St. Teresa's Catholic Primary School for an Elstree Film Festival Edit Session. Students were toured around the campus, taught how to edit of Final Cut Pro X and finally watched a final cut of their festival film.

Year 10 Swimming Lessons

Physical Education is a compulsory subject at Key Stage 4 and is a part of every student’s
timetable in years 10 and 11. At EUTC we have tried to embed the importance of having a
healthy lifestyle in addition to offering enjoyable exercise-oriented events. To help further engage our students with physical education we have partnered with ‘The Venue’ Swimming Pool to offer more health and fitness opportunities. The facility is located within a 3-minute walk from EUTC.

For the last week of term Year 10 Students will be able to swim every lesson for the final term of this academic year. Students will be charged £10 for the term and will be able to pay via ParentPay.

Students will meet in the reception at the beginning of their lesson, and then walk over with their designated teacher. Students will be required to bring their own towel, goggles and swimwear.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind students that suitable swimwear should be worn for the lesson. Swimwear that could is loose fitting or could easily fall off should not be worn. Any clothing which isn’t suitable for the lesson will result in students not being able to take part in the lesson.

Lessons will be in students timetabled lesson either on a Monday or Friday.

If you have any questions please email james.marks@elstreeutc.co.uk and please check your emails for details about the permissions slip.
