Spotlight on EUTC [Summer 2017 - Issue 02]

What's happening at Elstree this week?

Exams are now rolling in hard-and-fast and students are well into revision territory. Courses are beginning to tie up and coverage for exams are becoming a priority. We ask that families are particularly aware that their children may be stressed during this busy time. With that being said, there's plenty to be excited about!

The EUTC Apps for Good blog is now online! Follow our students progress as they pitch to win the UK's largest app development competition for young people: Apps For Good. The Thorpe Park trip for Pre-16 students is on the 23rd of June 2017. Students and parents/carers will need to ensure that payment is made by next Friday. All permission slips must be handed in by Monday to guarantee a place on the trip.

The #IdeasWorthSharingBlog is now up at https://www.elstreeutc.co.uk/blogs-home
We will be sharing relevant blog posts, articles and industry talks to student's studies at EUTC.

The Projects & Partnerships team was out at Queen's School, Bushey last Tuesday where they filmed an astounding 4 films in 2 hours. Many thanks to the exceptional students at Queens. The whole day was great fun - we can't wait for them to come and cut their films on campus at EUTC.

We are really excited to announce that Kerry Ellis will be coming to Elstree University Technical College on Thursday 25th May to run a workshop. Kerry Ellis (West End’s leading lady) is one of the best performers London has to offer. With her extensive and impressive CV it is hard to name only a few of the great roles she has played during her career. Beginning with ‘Wicked’, she starred as Elphaba in the West End before she took to the role on Broadway! She also created the role of Meat in the hit jukebox musical ‘We Will Rock You’, as well as starring as Fantine in ‘Les Miserables’ - one of London's longest running musicals.

Kerry will be running the 2-hour workshop on Thursday 25th May from 14:00-16:00. Part of the workshop will include performing/singing. Kerry has asked that students prepare a song with the backing track if they would like to gain feedback preparing for future auditions.

This opportunity is an extra-curricular sign-up and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We have 30 spaces available at £10 per person. Please make the payment via ParentPay and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 020 8386 6220 (ext 232) or clare.deacon@elstreeutc.co.uk.
