Spotlight on EUTC [Spring 2017 - Issue 02]

Welcome back to the 4th week of the Spring Term at EUTC. We're now beginning to build up to exams with a steady stream of mocks and practical assessments. Well done to Year 12 BTEC Music Performance students for recently completing one of their coursework units by performing for students live is Project Space One last week. The Projects Team has begun rolling out the 'Elstree Film Festival' project with local primary and secondary schools, taking some of our young mentors out to train future filmmakers and creatives in the art of storytelling. And with plenty more to crack on with, please take note of the upcoming events below.

  • The theme for the week is ‘FACILITATE’ [as of 13.03.17]
“"Good ideas are like Nike sports shoes. They may facilitate success for an athlete who possesses them, but on their own they are nothing but an overpriced pair of sneakers. Sports shoes don't win races. Athletes do”. Felix Dennis
  • This week is Science Week and the Media Dept. will be screening 'Twister' on behalf of the Science Dept. Film Club is this evening [13.03.17]
  • The Royal Navy Challange is taking place this Thursday. Our competing students will be leaving on Wednesday. Last year our students fared much better. Let's wish them good luck for this year!
  • On Monday 20th March there is Yr 13 Drama Trip to Hedda Gabbler at National Theatre [4:30pm]
  • Mocks begin today and will be running for two weeks.

A message from the English department:

Dear parents and guardians,

The Resit English mock speaking and listening exam will be on the 17th of March. Timetables have been sent by email and are in their classrooms. Please have the students check their designated time. The official speaking and listening exam will take place on Friday 24th of March. Their scheduled time and examiner will be the same as their mock exam. Students are expected to turn up 5 minutes before their designated time. Failure to turn up results in failure of the course.

Kind regards,

Miss Jaelithe Wedd and Miss Laura Kaminski
